Titanium FT-15 – High-Performance Material for Extreme Thermal Applications

Titanium FT-15 is an advanced titanium alloy developed by Form & Technik GmbH for demanding high-temperature applications requiring outstanding temperature resistance, dimensional stability, and long service life.

It has been specifically engineered for highly stressed thermal systems where conventional titanium alloys and standard engineering materials can no longer meet the required performance.

High-Temperature Performance and Long-Term Stability

With a continuous operating temperature of approximately 750°C and proven dimensional stability up to around 950°C, Titanium FT-15 is ideally suited for high-performance exhaust systems, combustion engines, combustion chambers, and other components exposed to sustained extreme thermal loads.

The high-temperature properties of this titanium alloy are therefore comparable to those of high-temperature-resistant materials such as Inconel 625 and grade 1.4828, while retaining the typical advantages of titanium in terms of low weight and corrosion resistance.

A key advantage of Titanium FT-15 is its unique combination of high-temperature resistance, excellent oxidation resistance, and outstanding durability in corrosive operating environments.

Even under cyclic thermal and mechanical loading, the material maintains its mechanical properties and dimensional stability over extended service periods.

As a result, material fatigue, distortion, and thermally induced wear are significantly reduced in high-temperature exhaust gas environments.

Titan FT-15 in Practice: Combination with Inconel 625

One example of the practical use of Titan FT-15 is its combination with other high-performance materials. The adapter shown combines Titan FT-15 in the upper section with Inconel 625 in the lower section.

This targeted combination of materials allows the respective material properties to be utilized exactly where they are required in terms of design and thermal performance. This enables individually engineered component solutions for demanding high-temperature and exhaust system applications.
