Titanium CNC-Machining
With CNC machining of titanium, Form & Technik supplies precision-machined components to customer drawings – from individual parts and prototypes to small batches and series production.
All titanium alloys listed in our product range can be supplied as CNC-machined components according to customer specifications. Depending on the component and its technical requirements, various machining processes are available.
In addition to fully CNC-machined components, we also supply titanium investment castings finish-machined to customer drawings. This allows different manufacturing processes to be combined with the required precision machining.
CNC Machining of Titanium
Depending on the component geometry and technical requirements, different CNC machining processes can be used.
Our range includes:
- CNC milling
- CNC turning
- CNC spindle machining
- CNC grinding
- CNC surface grinding
- CNC wire EDM
Manufacturing is carried out according to the customer’s technical specifications and drawings.
Technical Capabilities
The following technical capabilities are available for CNC-machined titanium components:
Dimensions
max. Ø 1,300 × 1,000 mm
Manufacturing tolerances
down to ±0.01 mm
Surface roughness
down to Ra 1.2
Titanium Alloys for CNC Machining
All titanium alloys listed in the Form & Technik product range can be supplied as CNC-machined components according to customer drawings.
This allows the material to be selected according to the specific technical requirements of each project.
From Individual Parts to Series Production
CNC machining is available for individual components and prototypes as well as for recurring production requirements.
Form & Technik supplies individual parts, prototypes and small batches through to series production. Framework agreements are also possible.
For recurring series requirements, weekly scheduled deliveries from our warehouse in Neuötting can also be arranged.
This enables us to support supply requirements from the initial prototype phase through to ongoing series production.
CNC Machining as Part of the Manufacturing Process
CNC machining can be used both as a standalone manufacturing process and for the precision finishing of previously manufactured titanium components.
Form & Technik supplies, for example, CNC-turned parts as well as titanium investment castings finish-machined to customer drawings.
This allows the choice of the initial manufacturing process and subsequent machining to be considered together.
CNC Machining, Investment Casting, 3D Printing, Graphite Casting or Forging?
Not every titanium component is best produced using the same manufacturing process. Geometry, required tolerances, quantities and other technical requirements influence the selection of the appropriate process.
For titanium investment castings with required tolerances of ≤ ±0.2 mm, additional machining is necessary. For 3D-printed components with tolerances of ≤ ±0.1 mm, additional machining is also required.
Graphite castings and forged components are supplied as rough parts that require subsequent machining.
CNC machining can therefore be considered not only as a standalone manufacturing process, but also as a machining step within a multi-stage manufacturing process.
Industries and Applications
Form & Technik supplies CNC-machined titanium components for industries including:
- Automotive
- Mechanical engineering
- Marine engineering
The specific design and manufacturing approach depend on component geometry, material, quantity and the technical requirements of the respective application.
